Finding enemies without having to see 'em.
posted by: Mehcroh |

This bug comes straight from the original Jagged Alliance, but works just as well in JA2. Ok, we've all seen the little footprints that show the path your merc will take walking from point A to point B right? Have you ever noticed that they will veer around enimies, and civilians? If your going to walk down a long road and notice a hump in your travel path where there are no obstructions on the map, then chances are it's a NPC, could be a civilian so be carefull. With a good rifle you can shoot targets that are out of your line of sight this way. Just position the crosshairs over the hump, and fire away.

Nice trick to make heads pop!

If there is a guy inside a building, then get someone above the door with a CAWS and one down below. Get the ground merc to fire at the door. Enemies should run out. Get the top merc to blast them in the head from point blank (may have to stand to see them). Gore and Brain Matter should fly every where. Kill Diedranna Even Before You Enter Meduna!
posted by: REX |
|
I found this just by luck. While fighting in Grumm with Gus, Reaper
,Shadow and I, Shadow got killed and I was asked to surrender by the
Snapperheads. Wanting to get to reload faster (hee hee). I accepted.
However instead of going to the map, I was moved to N7.(I think that is
the place where your mercs are sent when you surrender). There, Reaper
was in jail while Gus and I were on the Roof. Deidranna, Elliot and Joe
was there.(Who the Hell is JOE?) Try not to lie to Diedranna except
when she asks where the rebels are. She will then leave and ask Elliot
to lock up...Well he forgets...Your stuffs are kept in one of the rooms.
There's a lot of LAW in there too!
I had to let Shadow die since I couldn't get the Snapperheads to ask me
to surrender.
About 10 days later, when preparing to attack Meduna I got another squad
to move through another road. From Orta to Balime then N7 to Meduna.
Then the squad noticed someone in N7. Diedranna, Elliot were in there.
Chat with them before blowing their brains out. Kill Elliot first, the
he dies is cute. Then finish off Deidranna, she should be outnumbered.
Also try with different squad of mercs to see how they react when
Diedranna dies.

Fast Training!
posted by: Reaper |
|
I stumbled on this just by chance. If you want to train your mercs faster than normal without them needing any sleep this is what to do: Instead of putting him to practice an ability have him train as a student but without a trainer. His name will blink red and he will tell you once that he is all done but if you leave him alone he will continue to gain experience points. He will also gain experience faster than just practicing alone and he will never get tired. Obviously this is a bug in the game. I don't know if it has been fixed in latter versions of the game.

Customised Merc Training
posted by: Aeilissa |
|
If you're the patient type of game player, try this little trick:
When you first start a new game of any
difficulty, only hire your customised
merc. Make the custom merc's physical
stats as best as they can be (85 Wisdom
is a must) while keeping your starting
skills at minimum (value of 35). Start your mission. Wipe out the enemies in
the starting sector. Do NOT speak to any NPCs in the sector and immediately
begin training your merc through the
tactical screen. The sleep/wake noti-
fication function should be switched off.
This way, you can train your custom merc
for an unlimited period (I've gone past
60 days worth of training) Enrico will
post 3 warnings to you due to the "lack
of progress", but you can ignore them.
He stops posting messages after the 3rd
time, but does not fire you or do anything (unlike JA1). Useful, no?
I only warned you not to hire the other
mercs 'cos you have to fork out cash, and there's no way you can keep them
paid for 60+ days, can you?
If you conquer any of the other sectors
before trying this trick out, it will
still work...BUT, the loyalty of the
locals towards your cause will go down.

If you want to kill someone and don't want them to get mad, just shoot a few
squares behind them. If you do this enough, the bullets will kill them and
noone will care. This is how I killed Kingpin and Damon

Weapons out of enemy's Hand!
posted by: Sycokid |

This is a very Simple trick all you have to do is have a Stun-Grenade, stealth mode on, and make sure the enemy doesnt spot you.Throw the S-Grenade at him.He will be lying on the ground. Now if you take a few step forward you'll see the weapon next to the enemy. Stealing is even easier, all you do is knock the enemy out, press Ctrl so the hand will come up and put the hand over the enemy and click the mouse. Stealing though does not work every time.

Shoot at undetected enemies
posted by: Dmitriy |
|
In JA2, there is a bug that allows you to see where the enemies are, even if
you do not see them. Have your merc in prone position, and tell them to go
at some square. If he can't go to that square, and there is no object there,
then the enemy is there. You can now shoot at that square. If the enemy is
indeed there, the game will switch to turn mode. This also works in some
other strategy games, such as detecting submarines in Red Alert.

How to Pop-up without getting shot.
posted by: Angel of Death |
|
Sick of getting up from a crouch or prone position and getting nailed
by the enemy? Here's a neat trick that seldom fails.
Equip your crouched merc with a grenade in hand. Target a square to throw
the grenade and left click once. Your merc will stand up to prepare to throw
the grenade. He will then spot the enemy first, and will not throw the
grenade. For some strange reason, the enemy doesn't shoot you when you get
up this way. Now you can switch back to your rifle and start blasting away.
Repeat till enemy is dead. 8)

How to make 4 springs out of 1
posted by: DoomRaider |
|
There is a nice bug(feature) in JA2.
You'll probably get lots of rods while springs are hard to find.
Stack 4 rods into a large inventory slot, drag a spring, right click on rods, right click one of the rods, and combine it with the spring.
Now you should have 4 rods combined with spring which you can attach to your guns.
