Jagged Alliance Galaxy: More JA2:R Gameplay Details Unveiled More JA2:R Gameplay Details Unveiled ================================================================================ Shanga on 01/12/2010 20:48:00 Questions about the Game Features Source: official forum 1.Will the size of the maps change? Yes. The maps in Reloaded will generally tend to be larger. 2.Will players be able to drive vehicles? No. 3.Will houses have more than one floor that is accessible? No. 4.Will we have more control over the militia (indirectly)? This is still to be decided, but what is definitely not anticipated is that the militia will advance and attack. We have not yet finalized how the militia will behave when carrying out defensive actions. 5.Will there be a physics engine where houses and buildings can be destroyed? Only to a limited extent; players can use explosives to blast holes in walls as in JA2, but not to blow entire houses sky high as in Silent Storm. 6.Will the number of enemies in the sector change significantly? This has not yet been fixed, but will probably be roughly the same as in the original. 7.Which areas will be subject to significant changes from the original version of JA2? This really only applies to the underlying combat system and the changes that will accompany the conversion from 2D to 3D. Any additional modifications will be comparatively minor. 8. Will there be new movie sequences? The amount of video sequences is currntly not clear. 9.How will the “cover system” be designed? Will there be fixed levels in the game (floor, roof, etc. or as in Starcraft 2 currently) where you can get your bearings, or will the landscape be designed freely in 3D with hills, uneven ground etc. where the sightline is always calculated at any one time (similar to Hired Guns)? The entire landscape is in 3D and will be described physically, so pretty similar to “Hired Guns”. 10. Will we be able to “fortify” the locations? Yes, using militia. 11. Will there be new sources of income apart from the gold and silver mines? (Oil, additional missions, etc.) The main sources of income will be mining, additional tasks and missions and items of booty that players can sell to traders. 12. Will the strategy map either be set out in a grid and freely accessible, or will it be similar to Hired Guns, with just "hot spots" that the player must travel to? And if the overview map is freely accessible, will it then be slightly "organic" in form or remain in a strict grid pattern again? The strategic map will again be freely accessible. It is still undecided whether a grid will be helpful for the player as a reference point, or whether we can lose that feature. 13. Will the locations be divided into districts, or are there larger maps for entire cities? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. We will integrate smaller towns and cities on one large map. Larger cities (e.g. Meduna) will consist of several districts. 14. Will the old dialog system be retained? Yes. 15. Will the game still have the Bloodcats? Is there still a science fiction mode? The only thing I can say for sure is that at present there will be NO sci-fi mode. 16. Will there be light sources that can be destroyed (e.g. floodlights, searchlights) Probably not. 17. Will the humor of the series be retained? E.g. comments of mercs, weapon descriptions, etc. Yes! Definitely!
